I think you are reading into religion too much. The Torah is the word of God and the law of Judaism. Think of it like the US Constitution. It is the basic laws and tenets. The Talmud is the written opinions of scholarly Rabbis who have studied the Torah on how they interpret the laws. It’s the same as published case law interpretations of the Constitution. Now as long as you stay within the basic boundaries; a large majority is unaffected by the Talmud (the same with US law.) It really depends upon how religious one is as to how the laws of any religion affect you. BTW, Jesus is not mentioned in the Talmud. There’s theories by zealots who think he is referred to by one name or other names but there no definitive proof. You believe what you want and grab ahold of whatever “proof” you think justifies your beliefs (or make it up) to satisfy yourself. It’s like your friend with the andrenochrome obsession.
