Tens of thousands of jobs have been lost because of the cancellation of electric-vehicle and battery projects under the Trump admin between January 2025 and August 2026. About $20 billion in EV and battery-related manufacturing investments were scrapped in 2025 alone. Core hubs in the Midwest and South "Battery Belt" have experienced severe economic disruptions because of this. Workers in places like Lordstown, Ohio and Glendale, Kentucky are suffering because of these cancelled projects. These American communities made long-term municipal investments preparing for thousands of jobs, only for it to be yanked away from them. While the US is scaling back our EV and battery infrastructure, foreign markets in China and Europe are heavily subsidizing and expanding their domestic supply chains. So by dismantling these incentives, the Trump admin has put us on a path toward getting absolutely murked by international competitors in the next-gen automobile market. Not to mention the fact that by abruptly breaking promises and pulling the rug on existing plans, it freezes up billions of dollars... which means Trump has made future investments in the USA far riskier. How does this make America great?

I’m not trying to say this is science or predictive, it’s just anecdotal, so take it FWIW…but I’ve never heard this many three-time Trump voters in places like Texas, Iowa, Kansas, and Ohio specifically use the “E” word before right now. They say they are “embarrassed” of Trump. Plenty will still vote for him…but this is NEW as I’ve talked to these voters for multiple election cycles.

Neither side has an incentive to say it out loud, but @RoyCooperNC is on track to be North Carolina's next U.S. Senator. And it's partly because of @WhatleyNC. Is he a bad candidate? Yes, clearly. But the reasons go beyond candidate quality. Whatley is "Trump's guy." Trump shoved aside other potentially viable Republican candidates - @PatHarriganNC @MicheleMorrowNC etc - to make his guy the candidate. Because personal loyalty to him, above absolutely everything else, is all that matters to Trump. But now, Whatley is flailing. He's 8-12 points behind Cooper, depending on the poll you see. The polls are not "tightening." Whatley is not only going to lose, but he's going to get blown out of the water. That obviously makes Trump look bad. And that's why he and his surrogates (like Vance) are coming down to do rallies in North Carolina. Trump's got skin in the game, and Whatley losing looks... bad. North Carolina Republicans have hung a lot on the longstanding NC voter quirk of voting 🔴R at the federal level, and 🔵at the state level. That subgroup is small, but has been very meaningful for a long time. But the disastrous Trump 2 presidency might be what finally snaps the streak. When North Carolina goes blue this year, it's going to break a lot of brains in #ncpol. It ain't magic, or written in the stars, that North Carolina will always split tickets. There's a slow realignment that's been changing our state's politics for many years now. We're going to see it this fall - mostly thanks to Donald Trump.
