Education is one of the smartest investments we can make.

We signed €14 million for the UN Resident Coordinator System. It helps make sure that different UN agencies work as one team in the countries where they operate. Less duplication, more impact.
We also signed €3 million for the UN Human Rights Office, helping to advance global human rights standards at a time when they are under real pressure.

Jak došlo k rozhodnutí, že končíte?
Napřed došlo ke zrušení Sekce pro hospodářskou politiku, jejíž součástí jsme byli. A náš odbor byl přesunut pod Sekci rozpočet. Tam se ukázalo, že vrchní ředitel téhle sekce o nás nestojí.
Proč?
Nevím. Neměl zájem o to, co děláme, to byl asi hlavní důvod.
Ministryně Alena Schillerová se do toho nezapojila?
Ty evropské peníze by se daly prodloužit do roku 2027. Podmínkou byl souhlas ministryně. Bylo nám ale řečeno, že prodloužení nepodepsala a že náš tým skončí.
O co jsme tím jako stát přišli?
Na ministerstvu financí je dlouhodobě problém, že jakýkoli požadavek na financování se setkává s tupým „ne“. Ministerstvo říká, že rozpočet je napjatý, nemají peníze. Přitom my jsme analyzovali potřeby státu a byli jsme schopni říct, jaké peníze navíc dávají smysl a jaké ne. Nebo jaká investice se vyplatí, protože v budoucnu ušetří státu peníze. Nebo kde se nám vyplatí zadlužit, protože se peníze vrátí. O tyto informace ministerstvo přichází a vrací se zpět do podoby ministerstva účetnictví.

It means that we need to use public funds more smartly and more effectively. In New York, we launched the Global Green Bond Initiative to do exactly that.

The model already delivers results. When the Dominican Republic issued its first sovereign green bond with our support, it was six times oversubscribed. We are supporting 15 countries in issuing green bonds and designing the best projects.
