35 years of auto enrolment on median wage and you can have an inflation linked annuity of well over 20k a year. Which is fine. bloomberg.com/news/newslette…

Doesn’t need experts. The cost of building the average UK house has risen 50% in 5 years - half of which is tax and regulation. Strip those back, volumes will follow.
EXCLUSIVE 🗞️- Britain’s economic watchdog, the OBR, is concerned that it may have to revise down the boost to GDP it had attached to Labour’s flagship planning reforms and 1.5 million new homes target. The OBR has invited housing market experts in for meetings in a bid to “understand why the housing market is underperforming” so badly. This will be a blow to the government and signals the state of our housing market amid worsening economic headwinds including inflation and higher mortgage rates which, in their defence, are neither Labour’s fault nor entirely within their control. It also raised questions about the OBR’s initial forecast which experts have told me was optimistic at best. My report @theipaper inews.co.uk/news/hidden-cost…

How do we cope with the stunningly low quality of our politicians in Scotland. Even I knew this. And I am not the Scottish minister responsible for it.
"that's not crofts. Unless I am unaware of public bodies that own land that is used for crofting" [Climate Action Committee 17 Sep 2026 09:38] Scottish Ministers own 95,000 hectares of crofting land containing over 1500 crofts (almost 10% of all crofts).

Merkel left office five years ago to huge acclaim. Why? She ripped off Nato, cultivated gas dependency on Putin, cosied up to China and opened the door to a million migrants in 2015 alone. She, not the populist right, was the true extremist of our age thetimes.com/comment/columni…

Oxford researchers just published a paper arguing LLMs cannot invent anything. Mathematically impossible. The reason is simple and brutal. A model trained to predict the next word can never believe something the existing data says is wrong. And every real breakthrough in history started with exactly that belief. In 1903 every prediction machine on Earth would have told the Wright Brothers that human flight was one to ten million years away. Nine weeks later they flew. Not because they had better data. Because they had a theory the data hadn't caught up to yet. That is the gap between AI and human thinking. LLMs mirror the past. Humans reason into a future that doesn't exist yet. Oxford just proved mathematically that those are two different things. I use these models every day. This matches what I see. The new stuff always comes from the human at the keyboard who decides the data is wrong. LLMs don't think. You do.
Community note
This paper published 2 years ago has zero mathmatical proofs in it at all. It contains no equations and is a conceptual essay. Claiming from it that anything is mathmatically proven is false and misleading. Original paper: pubsonline.informs.org/doi/10.1287/st…
