As Parliament debates the NHS Modernisation Bill at its second reading today, the focus is on introducing a Single Patient Record across England. The government estimates that the Single Patient Record could lead to 20,000 fewer A&E attendances and 6,000 fewer hospital admissions each year, while also reducing medication errors and easing administrative burden across the NHS. It also has the potential to improve people’s experience of care by reducing the need to repeat medical history and helping information follow them more easily when they move between services. PRSB sets the specifications that define how health and care data is recorded and shared, making it trustworthy, comparable and useful across care settings. We support a system where data is captured once, consistently understood, and used to improve care, learning and outcomes for everyone. As plans for a Single Patient Record progress, standards will be essential to ensuring data flows where it is needed, when it is needed. The NHS Health Check programme aims to help prevent heart disease, stroke, diabetes, kidney disease and certain types of dementia. NHS Health Checks are a brilliant way to help people stay well, but only if the right people actually attend them. That is we've been commissioned by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) to support a new project defining who should be invited for a health check. This work will help make sure invitations reach the people who need them most, particularly those who do not regularly engage with health services, while avoiding unnecessary invitations for those already receiving care.
