💜 modeling how to take a basic speaking response more robust response. 90 sec is a long time to speak. It's so important we show all know about the topic/question asked. Exemplars set the tone of the expectation of what we are working towards. Clear is kind, even for students.

My first language was Serbian. I grew up in a home full of it, and I still speak it today.
Learning English mattered. But no one made me choose. I got to keep both.

Make no mistake, language flourishes is environments that offer opportunities for practice.
Learning requires students to try it out. To watch others. To observe and to do it with the guidance of an experienced coach.
There may be moments when silence is necessary but not always and not the majority of a lesson.
