It seems like they’re trying to demonstrate passion or attract a younger audience. Whatever the case, I think it lessens the impact of what they’re trying to say. There is a time and a place for profanity and it isn’t in public or in professional conversation. It is indeed the “parlance of the fool.”

Fontes accused Kolodin of pushing election changes that would undermine voting by mail and force Arizonans to vote in person. He also argued that distrust in Arizona’s elections has been fueled by unsupported allegations against election workers and officials—not evidence of wrongdoing. “So, he and I agree on very little when it comes to elections,” Fontes said, pointing to Kolodin’s involvement in lawsuits challenging the 2020 election. In 1823 a fur trapper named Hugh Glass was torn apart by a grizzly bear, left for dead by the two men paid to bury him, woke up alone with no weapons, and dragged himself back to civilization. Then he hunted both men down. Then he let them live. It happened in August of 1823 on the Grand River, in what is now South Dakota. Glass was scouting ahead of a fur brigade and walked into a grizzly sow with two cubs. She took flesh off his back and legs, broke his leg, opened him up enough to expose ribs, and tore his throat badly enough that his windpipe was showing. The other trappers shot her off him. Everyone who looked at what was left agreed he had hours. Andrew Henry, leading the party, offered money for two men to stay behind, wait for Glass to die, and bury him. John Fitzgerald took it. So did a teenager generally identified as Jim Bridger, who was about nineteen. Glass kept not dying. After a few days the two of them took his rifle, his knife and the rest of his equipment, left him where he lay, caught up to the company, and reported him dead. Then he woke up. He was alone, unarmed, with a broken leg, roughly two hundred miles from the nearest fort, in country where a lone white trapper had a very short life expectancy. So he set his own leg. He pulled the bear hide they had draped over him as a shroud around himself. And he started moving on his hands and knees. He let maggots settle into the dead flesh of his wounds, which sounds like a horror movie detail and is actually correct medicine. Maggots eat necrotic tissue and leave living tissue alone. Hospitals still use them. It very likely saved him from gangrene. He lived on berries and roots. He navigated by a landmark called Thunder Butte. At one point he ran wolves off a dead bison calf and ate it. When he reached the Cheyenne River he put together a raft and floated the rest. It took about six weeks. One honest note, since the number gets thrown around. The distance is disputed. The traditional figure is over two hundred miles. Careful historians think it may have been closer to eighty or a hundred, and that the story grew with every retelling, starting with an anonymous magazine version published in 1825. Take the smallest credible number and it is still a man with a broken leg and no supplies crawling across the northern plains. He reached Fort Kiowa. He recovered. And then he went looking for them. He found the young one first, and forgave him, reportedly on account of his age. That teenager was Jim Bridger, who went on to become one of the most important guides and mountain men in American history. Then he found Fitzgerald at Fort Atkinson, where Fitzgerald had enlisted in the United States Army. Killing a soldier was a hanging offense. Glass took his rifle back, by one account collected three hundred dollars, told Fitzgerald that he had better never leave the Army, and left. Ten years later, in early 1833, Glass and two other men were crossing the frozen Yellowstone when an Arikara war party killed and scalped all three. When Hollywood made the movie, they invented a son for him and had Fitzgerald murder the boy. Because apparently a man who crawls out of his own grave and then decides not to kill anyone is a harder sell.

That’s the next American strategic bomber, the one built to replace the B-2, and the public schedule still has it becoming operational in 2027. While governments rehearse speeches and walk out of halls, this thing exists so that the people currently probing for weakness have to keep guessing whether the answer is already airborne. The Supreme Court granted @TheJusticeDept’s stay in revamping the SAVE citizenship verification database, which will allow states to clear the voter rolls of illegal voters. The modified SAVE system allows state and local officials to conduct citizenship verification of registered voters to keep aliens from voting. The Justice Department will continue fighting in court for secure elections. Every American should want this!
