SO WHICH IS IT? YOU CAN’T HAVE IT BOTH WAYS. I’m being told that Danny Tommo can be charged with criminal damage because the French authorities had custody and control of the boat. Right. So let me get this straight. If, in the eyes of the law, taking custody and control of that boat is enough to say it now belongs to the French authorities, then in my eyes you have opened up a much bigger question. Because those same authorities are the ones dealing with these boats and the people on them. And section 25 of the Immigration Act covers assisting unlawful immigration into the UK, with a maximum sentence of life imprisonment. So if we are now saying that custody and control gives you legal responsibility for the boat, then where does that responsibility end? Because if Danny Tommo is being accused of a crime involving a boat that nobody apparently owns, but suddenly that boat is considered to belong to the French authorities because they took custody and control of it… then why aren’t the people who took custody and control of it being arrested and detained for people smuggling if they have assisted people in getting into the UK? That is the question I’m asking. You can’t tell me the boat is theirs when it helps establish criminal damage… and then suddenly that responsibility disappears when we start talking about people being smuggled across the Channel. If Danny is going to be held responsible for that boat, then why aren’t the people who supposedly have custody and control of it being held responsible for the people on it? You can’t have it both ways. So tell me… When will we be arresting the French authorities WHO ACTUALLY OWNS THE RESPONSIBILITY HERE?

Last night, a group of English lads helped a 19-year-old migrant who told them he was trying to get away from two other migrant males he said had been sexually abusing him. They gave him a lift to the train station, bought him food and drink and gave him some cash. A French family saw them leaving with him, panicked and called the police because they thought the Englishmen were going to harm him. I calmed them down, used translate and explained what had actually happened. Today I bumped into the same family again, this time with NGOs, and they were calling the police on me.
