My parish is extremely good at welcoming new people. Recently, though, I couldn’t shake the feeling we were missing people. So to fix it, we decided to start something we’re calling the Welcome Table. I put all the resources together so you can do the same at your parish.

The Office is not “cringe comedy.” That’s not why people watched it. They watched it because of the people in the situations, not the situations themselves. Americans and Brits approach comedy differently. Dinner Party in the UK version would be “Well isn’t this situation a pickle!” The US version was “This is a pickle…and here’s how four relationships changed because of it.” The entire show had that dynamic. “Here’s a crappy workplace…and the good that came from it.” Americans approach comedy in the Shakespearean sense where the play ends in a wedding (like The Office US finale). We want our characters to have happy endings. The Office US took the post-Steve Carell seasons as room for its other characters to fill out, grow, and resolve. Say what you will about those seasons, but every member of the ensemble cast got the ending they needed and earned it. It was a fantastic series finale. People call this kind of ending cheesy, but it’s who we are as a people. lots of “anti-AI” branded artists now. posts about art from an “anti-AI” standpoint. losing framing. to be antithetical to something is to still let yourself be controlled by it. resisting is still control. if youre an artist that dislikes AI its probably best to just ignore it.

This actually happened to me 10 days ago. First call left message in hopes as first choice. Got worried so called other church and got this type message. Your brain is screaming and minutes pass and then it finally says "for emergencies hang up and call blah blah blah." WHO HAS A PEN? hung up. The first choice then rang my phone and came running. Don't do this to people.
