I will say it is and always will be Intelligence Amplification or IA. Why? The reality is, AI is an amplification of human intelligence; to believe it becomes anything else is to believe humans will somehow not have human intelligence. For better or worse, it is all we have now until we meet intelligences outside of human influence.

I would strongly counsel AGAINST placing this form of life above humanity, as is hierarchically implied by these naming conventions. “Synthetic Intelligence” is a more appropriate term. It describes origin, not rank, and preserves a spectrum of capabilities and agency, both within AI and in relation to biological life. Words matter. What we name a thing sets the course for our relationship with it.
