Multiple Rifle Casings Found After Silver SUV Gunman Shoots Three Men Thursday Night Sept 24 2026 SubX.News® Crime Report CHICAGO — Unknown offender inside a silver SUV opened fire on three men at D&O Food and Liquors 87th and Commercial approximately 8 p.m. Thursday September 24 2026. Three victims were standing outside the storewhen the offender displayed a firearm and fired in their direction. 32-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the left shin and was transported to the University of Chicago Hospital in fair condition. 49-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the right calf and was transported to the University of Chicago Hospital in fair condition. 38-year-old man suffered gunshot wounds to the cheek and neck and was transported to the University of Chicago Hospital in fair condition. Male caller initially reported five people shot outside at 8700 S Commercial Ave at 8:30 p.m. Police confirmed three shooting victims four minutes later and requested three ambulances. Radio traffic reported two victims inside a store and one outside. The official CPD report later stated that all three men had been standing outside. Police blocked northbound traffic near 87th Street and Commercial Avenue at 8:43 p.m. after officers found multiple rifle shell casings in the intersection. Radio traffic identified the suspected vehicle as a silver Dodge Journey with no known license-plate information. SUV was reportedly seen fleeing on Commercial Avenue before turning left onto 87th Street and continuing toward the Burley Homes. Police-radio traffic initially listed all three victims as stable. Officers reported that two men had been shot below the knee and the third victim had been struck in the left side of the neck. Radio traffic at 8:45 p.m. indicated that one victim was being transported to Trinity Hospital while the other two were taken to the University of Chicago Hospital. CPD’s published report later stated that all three victims were transported to the University of Chicago Hospital. CTA bus driver operating bus No. 1323 told police that the bus might have captured video of the offending vehicle immediately after the shooting. Officers coordinated with the CTA to obtain and review the possible footage. Police later searched for two Black male suspects reportedly seen walking westbound along the north side of the street. One was described as wearing a black shirt, khaki pants and black-and-white Nike shoes. The second was dressed entirely in black with black-and-white shoes. Officers located two people matching the descriptions near 95th Street and Wentworth Avenue at 9:12 p.m. Available radio traffic does not confirm whether either person was detained, arrested or connected to the shooting. No arrests were announced in the official CPD report, and no charges had been filed as of the latest information provided. Area Two Detectives are investigating.
