AI is revolutionizing biology! Samuel King's research uses artificial intelligence to understand and design life at the molecular level, opening up new frontiers in biological design. #AIinBiology#MolecularDesign#talkbiotome#podcast
@J_A_C_S A cascade π-extension strategy has been established for the precise synthesis of PAHs through a copper-catalyzed domino carbene transfer process, enabling determinate structural control with tunable lengths #Chemtwitter#MolecularDesign#Carbenepiped.video/HOcsgrqKqCA
Thanks to the interactive collaboration between Chemistry and Biology at @UNABoficial, we’re designing molecules that speak both to life and structure—bridging science and health through innovation.

At @UNABoficial’s Organometallic Synthesis Lab, we design novel benzimidazole-based fluorophores and transition metal complexes (Re(I), Ru(II)) for bioimaging and cell staining.
We also develop Schiff base-derived molecules with antimicrobial potential

Ylides are typically zwitterions formed between atoms of differing electronegativity. For the first time, we propose that purely hydrocarbon ylides are possible if stereoelectronic factors are well tuned. Our paper in @angew_chem got accepted! Stay tuned!

ALT From top left to bottom right: ELF basin of a lone-pair corresponding to the carbanion, ESP map of the ylide showing the position of both a carbocation (blue p-hole) and a carbanion (red lump in the middle), NBO corresponding to the lone-pair, and the map of the Lapalcian of electron density, revealing the lone-pair.
These “hits” are then optimised to improve their effectiveness and reduce side effects. This involves many experiments to tune the molecule’s properties, making it safer and better at fighting the disease. It's like adjusting the key to ensure it turns smoothly. #MolecularDesign
