So good to see this. Year 6 having the knowledge to richly enjoy input of archaeologist who helped us write the pupils’ #OpeningWorlds Year 6 history booklet. 😍

I launched #OpeningWorlds cos I felt this was completely unsustainable for primary schools on their own. Either one has to buy in or a large group of primaries needs to collaborate in a structured, project-managed project, with subject-specific scholarly leadership, and funding.

Privileged to hear @Counsell_C share extracts from several of these beautiful #openingworlds texts in her webinar trilogy. 'This Manchester Man' is a favourite: the story, the ambition of vocabulary realised, the leaning in on Greek history taught years before, learned, owned.

Here's a slice of text from #OpeningWorlds Year 6 Spring 1 history. Words in bold are taught this lesson. Every other word you see which is tricky has been taught thoroughly in Years 3, 4 or 5. We write texts in order to deliberately meet those words again, again and again.

Today, when these beauties arrived, I realised that this is the 70th booklet that #OpeningWorlds has written. Just 2 more to go & KS2 will be complete. Nearly 300 primary schools around England now get children reading at least 800 words a lesson of this gorgeous stuff.

Always. I've had to make it a system cos it's the lifeblood of all my work! Always 5 on the go: 2 for #OpeningWorlds (currently Hildegard & Handel for a new Y6 RE unit) 2 to help my secondary author team (currently Ireland,Wales) 1 novel– essential, even if only 3 pages a night!

Tomorrow... foregrounding women's roles and experiences in history at Key Stage 2: a journey through different ways in which we make women visible in the #OpeningWorlds humanities programme.

I was in heaven on Weds, teaching Y6 in @NewquayJunior and working with the inspirational @CeltAcademies. What a privilege to teach a full #OpeningWorlds lesson to Year 6! There is nothing like watching children grow in joy & confidence in using rich, powerful, new vocab.

What a perfect job for a history specialist! @CeltAcademies are WONDERFUL. Heading there next week and love working with them on #OpeningWorlds primary history. Imagine leading secondary history in an area where Y7s come through with rich secure historical knowledge from primary!

A joy to host our our friends from Flanders yesterday, to explain the rationale for the #OpeningWorlds curriculum and to show it in action in @StJohnVianneyWG. The pupils loved discussing archaeological challenges in the Indus Valley and ways of representing modern #Birmingham !

I was in history heaven yesterday, teaching about Aethelflaed Lady of the Mercians to these history-hungry Y5s who had been taught #OpeningWorlds superbly by teachers at @BeaconCEPrimary. Their broad, rich vocabulary is now terrific! A great joy to work with @LDSTEducation

Thank you Claire! It's brilliant to hear your Y7s are loving #ChangingHistoriesKS3! And yes, the continuities with my primary programme are huge. From next year, secondaries receiving Y7 pupils who have been doing #OpeningWorlds in primary are in for a big shock (a pleasant one!)
