‘Metro Centre’ for ‘Metrocentre’. The station opened in 1987 as ‘Gateshead MetroCentre’ and was renamed ‘MetroCentre’ in 93. The shopping centre, now ‘Metrocentre’ was previously styled ‘MetroCentre’. So how did the space on current station name boards come about, ie 2 words?

Yet if you go on to the National Rail or Northern websites, it appears (correctly) as "Metrocentre"! So the signs seem like an anomaly.
