Andrew Neil’s argument sounds formidable …. until you check it 🤔 AfD is not polling higher than Germany’s Social Democrats and Christian Democrats combined. Britain has not outgrown Germany, France and Italy in every year since Covid. And comparing our growth with three struggling economies tells us nothing about how much faster Britain would have grown without Brexit. The OBR still estimates Brexit will cut UK productivity by 4%. Neil is right that Europe has changed. The world has changed ffs. Trump, Putin and the far right are precisely why Britain needs to help shape Europe, not sit outside it, poorer and powerless. The Europe of 2026 is different. So is the world. That is the argument for rejoining.

At SCALE procurement cost. Not the retail £15,000 the homeowner gets quoted. Bulk purchase: £3,000-4,000 per installation. Government-funded. From the levy that already exists. And that last part matters. Because every energy scheme says "homes." A static caravan isn't legally a "home." A park home isn't. A canal boat isn't. 120,000+ people living in the most energy-inefficient, hardest-to-heat, most expensive-to-power accommodation in the country EXCLUDED from every scheme because the policy was written for houses and nobody thought about the person paying £150/month on a 16A supply in a single-skin aluminium box. £12 billion/year = 3 million installations per year. Every dwelling in Britain and I mean EVERY dwelling, not just the ones that fit the legal definition of "home" done in under 10 years. Every one generating its OWN power. Storing it. Using it. The grid becomes a BACKUP not a lifeline. The result: The energy bill: effectively ZERO for electricity. Not reduced by £150. ZERO. The pensioner: warm. Without choosing between heating and eating. The person in the static caravan: warm. For the first time without dread. The canal boat family: powered. Without running the engine for three hours. The grid goes down: nobody dies. The battery keeps the lights on. The energy company: loses its monopoly. The customer doesn't NEED them. The green levy: pays for its own abolition. It funds the infrastructure that eliminates the need for the levy. "Remove green levies" saves £150/year. REDIRECTING green levies saves £1,723/year. Permanently. For every household. Every caravan.
