Hi @Helen_Whately, are you saying that the PIP budget is too small, because people with the highest severity of disability aren't getting more money than the next highest severity? Or are you saying that Tories were wrong to scrap Middle Rate Care of DLA, when creating PIP?

If you remember, the Tories introduced PIp to replace DLA. DLA recipients are still being moved to PIP (many losing all support )

That's not 'a failure' it the fact there are only 2 levels of PIP in two different sections. Low and High Care and Mobility Who designed it like that? The Conservative Party. You could add more levels, but the you add even more complexity to the decision making process.

That would be PIP which was the brainchild of Iain Duncan Smith. Introduced in 2013. So the Conservatives are offering to rescue us from the policy that they themselves introduced just 13 years ago. Fuckwits.

That’s because the Tories designed it that way. There are actually 8 successful award possibilities, ranging from £30.30 per week to £194.60 per week. By contrast there are (and so were for all before PIP was brought in) 11 possible awards for DLA.

You NEVER make it clear it’s an in or out of work benefit, you NEVER state it’s not based on diagnosis but HOW your disability affects a person. you NEVER state pip has the LOWEST fraud rate of any benefit, also NEVER state how much medical evidence a person has to provide plus an assessment prior to getting a decision . WHY?

Helen, the IFS hasn’t proved PIP has “failed”. It has pointed out that PIP has two payment rates and asked whether there should be more levels. That’s a debate about how PIP is designed — not evidence that the benefit itself has failed. Quite an important difference.

You wouldn’t recognise fairer if it was right in front of you. And until you all apologise properly for the absolute mess you’ve made you’ll continue to languish and be irrelevant.

Misleading rage-bait. The IFS didn’t say PIP had “failed” or endorse Tory reforms. It highlighted trade-offs: their alternative could cut some disabled people’s support by £1,720 a year.

Nobody has Exactly the same difficulty dealing with the environment that disables them! If my non-driving doppleganger lived in the country with no family we would have complexly different needs

I have read the report. It again makes the mistake of trying to divide up different disabilities by a ranking system. Helen PIP isn't awarded for the diagnosis it's for how it effects you on a day to day basis. The report talks as if everyone gets the higher rate. They don't.
