Anybody with over a million dollars of net worth should have some real estate exposure. The problem with stocks is when things get scary or emotional, it's too easy to sell. I had a bunch of Amazon stock that I sold and I really wish I still had it. Real estate takes three to six months to sell and it's expensive to do. That friction is a feature, not a bug. It keeps you from making an emotional decision you'll regret later.
