Europe’s Launch Comeback: Ariane 6 Scores Record Commercial Deals🚀🤝
At the International Space Summit, which took place September 9-10 in Paris, European launch provider Arianespace announced its largest order intake since Ariane 6 entered service. Over two days, the company clinched seven new agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) covering nearly ten heavy-lift launches.
The deals reflect growing commercial confidence in Europe’s heavy-lift flagship. Among the headliners, tech giant Amazon expanded its reliance on Ariane 6 for its Amazon Leo satellite constellation, booking six additional launches on the high-capacity Ariane 64 configuration to bring its total order to 24 flights. Satellite operator Eutelsat also added two Ariane 64 missions for its OneWeb constellation, while Asian operator KT SAT tapped the vehicle for its KOREASAT 9 mission via AscendArc.
Crucially, the summit marked a historic turning point for European space sovereignty: the first-ever pairing of a sovereign European launcher with a sovereign European spacecraft – The Exploration Company’s Nyx capsule. Flying under ESA’s ALADDIN (Autonomous LEO Accelerated Demo Docking to ISS Node) initiative, the demonstration mission highlights Ariane 6’s versatility beyond traditional satellite deployment.
“The agreement reflects the growing links between Europe’s launch capabilities and the new space vehicles being developed across Europe, helping to build an integrated European space ecosystem spanning access to space and orbital transportation services,” Juliette Poisson, Media Relations Leader at Arianespace told
