URGENT SENIOR IN BARROW COUNTY, GA‼️ This is my second time posting Apollo, and unfortunately, the shelter is starting to take a toll on him‼️💔💔He’s pacing more in his kennel and just doesn’t seem as happy as he was when I first met him. 💔I really love Apollo. He’s what I call my gentle giant. He’s 8 years old, walks perfectly on leash, and truly just wants to be loved. When I take him out, he’s happiest standing beside me while I sit there and pet him.💔💔💔🙏🙏🙏🙏 Then I have to put him back, and that part is getting harder.💔 Apollo spent eight years as someone’s dog before being surrendered following an incident that was described as protective rather than aggressive.👍 I also spoke with his owner’s girlfriend, who told me he previously lived with dogs and cats and did well with them, although that is not included in his official shelter notes. The boyfriend’s dad did not like Apollo from the beginning and was trying to get him out.😭 Reality is the shelter is FULL, and Apollo is showing us that he’s struggling.‼️He’s a senior who just wants someone beside him. URGENT IN GWINNETT COUNTY, GA‼️ 🚨⌛️IN ALL THE URGENCY, I DON’T WANT US TO MISS LOWELL, HE’S BEEN WAITING TOO…🥺 💔How can so much be written on a little dog’s face without him ever saying a word? 💔Lowell received his plea from the shelter last week...and with so many dogs currently carrying urgent deadlines, I don’t want this little guy to quietly disappear into the background his time is running out..⏰ He is such a little dog, barely 15lbs‼️ a soft gentle Terrier mix with a coat that tells a much harder story than we can imagine. His little face is quietly disarming, almost as though you’re looking at a dog twice his age, weathered by circumstances that have clearly taken their toll💔💔💔💔💔 Lowell came into the shelter as a stray with no microchip and no one looking for him, carrying a chronic skin condition that had clearly made life uncomfortable for quite some time. Much of his hair is gone, his skin is scabbed and irritated, his ears were inflamed and even his little nails had grown severely long. 😞It is difficult to look at him without wondering how long he had been living like that before someone finally picked him up.💔 Thankfully, Lowell is being treated now and is already seeing improvement!! 👍His ears are getting better👍his nails have been trimmed 👍and his skin is finally receiving the care it needs to settle the inflammation and itching👍 The vets do want to give his skin more time to heal before he is neutered, so he just needs a little time before the next stage of his care can begin. That’s really the part that matters now…His body has been uncomfortable for long enough. Now he needs the chance to settle into being comfortable again, with someone willing to keep up with his treatment and give his skin the time it needs to heal. ❤️‍🩹Let’s imagine the day when the irritation has subsided and the hair begins to return, when those ears are healthy and his body no longer demands so much of his attention, because somewhere in that process Lowell may begin to look less like the dog who arrived at the shelter and more like the 4yr old little Terrier he has always been beneath all of this. There may be a completely different expression waiting for us once he is comfortable, a different way of carrying himself, little parts of a personality that are difficult to glimpse while so much of his day is occupied by being itchy and uncomfortable. 👉Lowell is available for rescue and the shelter can also place him in a foster-to-adopt home, where he can begin healing with a family while the shelter continues to manage and cover his care, with the commitment to adopt once he is ready.
